Guinness Live Round 21 - Yong Wei vs SiLing 15Dec2011

My second time to Firefly as a blogger covering this event on that day.

its a very nice cosy place.

here.. let me feature YongWei first..

His performance was very much better than the day before.. perhaps the day before was too rush for him, hence he was unprepared. For this time, he dressed well also as compared to the previous day he wore a simple t-shirt with some prints on it and an old faded jeans (see my previous blogpost)

Thumbs up for you, YongWei! But of course you need to brush up more on your singing.. in order to outwit your competitors. Perhaps some variations at certain parts of the song would be good. :)

One thing i like about YongWei is his humbleness despite the criticism by some nasty judges or MCs.

he maintained his silence and just listen.

Well.. i think thats the BEST you can do!

SiLing on the other hand... was more EMO that day. throughout whole thing she was quite quiet also. she was not as chirpy as the first day i saw her. Later, i found out from her that her stomach was not feeling well... Nevertheless, she still sang very well and have chosen the right songs which suits her condition.

How do you feel of your performance on last night?

Though there are some hiccups in between but I'm glad I manage to pull it through ...

What did the mentors and judges said and do you agreed?

Mentors' comments are very kind, of course I feel no matter how good u are, there are definitely room for improvement ... just like my hokkien song ... i can work on adding more hokkien flavour to the song.

What do you think of your dressing?

I tink Jaye ur stylist really put in a lot of effort in sending us images as guidance and helping us in our hairdo and make up before the competition .. really learn alot from him

Lastly what do you want to say to your supporters?

Lastly, thank you everyone for their time and effort coming down to support and cheering so loudly .. esp the contestants from other groups as well ... this competition other than singing techniques and stage performance is also about friendship

Guinness Live Round 20 - Yong Wei vs Regine 14Dec2011

 

Round 20 of Guinness Live was held at St. James Dragonfly last Wednesday.

having the biggest stage among others... like Shanghai Dolly and Firefly
the atmosphere was good.

and here we have Jason Chung (far right) and Sky (far left) as our MC for that night

Regine from Team Shanghai Dolly sang pretty well that day... with full of confidence (which is a good sign)
when you have confidence, u will sing well. (TIP 1)
So first of all, YOU have to be CONFIDENT!

Very clever... she even made use of the podium at the left side of the stage...
which made the whole stage as though it all belongs to hers.

her outfit was good that day too... i would say its daring and would cause her to stand out among any other competitor.

Here.. we have our cute n chubby Yong Wei from Team Dragonfly... who is humble on stage.
His dress sense was criticised by the MC for being too norm, saying the audience can even wear better than him. I personally felt that it was abit too much. She should have learned that he was called last min to stand in and sang on this day, because the actual singer who was supposed to compete with Regine was sick. He had no choice but to come to the event unprepared, rushing from Changi chalet.

Was sick so didn't really do my best last night, but it was so much fun with my friends and everyone around!!!

Mentors commented on my low notes which I will definitely, and have been working on.

Jaye made me look so sexy and pretty on stage last night!!!!

Edison Chen has a Fetish for Schoolgirl.

Despite weathering the nude photo scandal, Edison Chen (陳冠希) remained fearless, shockingly discovered to be dating 16-year-old model, Cammi Tse (謝芷蕙). Yesterday, the couple’s private kissing photos were exposed. With his image shattered, Edison drew quick boundaries from Cammi, while announcing that he had broken up with former girlfriend, Vincy Yeung (楊永晴) six months ago. According to an inside source, Edison frequently invited Cammi to his house, requesting her to model maid-inspired lingerie and her school uniform to satisfy his photography fetish.

Romantically linked with Edison in the past, Gloria Wong (黃榕) complained that he had gone too far by dating a 16-year-old student. Gloria said, “I’m not surprised that he is dating a 16-year-old. In a telephone interview, Cammi said, “I knew he and Vincy had broken up. We had started dating for a short period of time.” (After the kissing photos surfaced, have you been in touch with Edison?) “We exchanged text messages as regular friends. We have already broken up, which was not due to this incident.”

Asked whether Cammi had broken up with Edison yesterday, she said in confusion, “I do not know! It’s not that one person asked to break up, but we both know it happened. We broke up under good terms.” Asked whether she had taken intimate photos with Edison, Cammi said in a quivering voice, “No.” Asked whether she had a sexual relationship with Edison, Cammi said, “No!”

Living in Fear

Cammi indicated that she had lost her cell phone earlier and suspected that her kissing photos were leaked as a result. Cammi was very scared and afraid that her family, who was [unaware of her dating Edison], would see the photos.The administrators at Cammi’s school were concerned about the situation as well, but did not ask her to stop attending school. Cammi indicated that she will continue to go to school.

Allegedly, Cammi’s management company will help her file a police report. Cammi insisted that no additional revealing photos were taken. The reporter asked whether Cammi and Edison had taken the photos willingly, she responded, “I do not know how to answer, but I am already 16-years-old!”

Cammi's conflicting statements regarding her virginity also let many Netizens to question if Edison had sex with an underage girl.

According to the Hong Kong law, the age of consent is 16. Cammi turned 16 in March, before she began a relationship with Edison. Therefore, even if Edison did sleep with the model, he would not be facing any legal charges.

Guinness Live PK Round 3 - Si Ling vs Phoebe @ FIREFLY (03Nov2011)

... went down to FireFly on Thursday night to witness the singing battle between Si Ling and Phoebe below.

It was the 3rd night of the Guinness Live since the start of the first night on Tuesday.
it was something which i'm pretty interested in.. cos i love singing too! and was like the Taiwan's 超级星光大道!

havin' the PK competition whereby the winner will stay and the loser would be kicked out of the competition on the spot.

But before i start... let me provide you an introduction to what this Guinness Live competition is all about.

In support of the local live music scene, Guinness is staging a fresh music program - Guinness Live - which brings together industry veterans and young aspirants. 12 amazing young performers under the mentorship of music veterans will battle it out through a series of 54 live shows held in three of Singapore’s hottest clubs - Dragonfly, Firefly and Shanghai Dolly.
Respective Mentors
These 12 singers will be divided into three teams, with each team assigned their respective “home club” and mentor - William Scorpion from Shanghai Dolly, Jason Chung from Dragonfly and Fatt Zhai from Firefly.
Highlights
The highlight of each show features a musical battle where a visiting mentor and the contestant under his tutelage visits a contesting club to challenge the resident team to a stage battle called a Player-Killer Shootout (PK Shootout). With the help of renowned composer and producer Eric Ng, 20 Chinese classics have been turned into special ‘Guinness Live’ remixes for the contestants to perform during the PK Shootout at the three clubs.
Who will decide their fate?
Deciding the fate of the 12 contestants will be the music fans. Fans online can cast their votes on ‘Guinness Live’ Facebook Fan page. Every week one lucky voter will win an exclusive ‘Guinness Live’ St James membership card.

The stakes are high for all twelve participants. At the end of the program, only one team will rise from the lights and applause to emerge as winners. After 54 weeks of gruelling grooming and close mentorship, the winners will be cutting a brand new single written and produced by Eric Ng and Xiao Han. To help realize the aspirants’ dream, Guinness will be putting the winners up on stage on 17 March 2012 together with an international act.

And on Thursday night, it was held FireFly!

tell u what.. they sang very well too! Especially Jason Chung, i was pretty mesmerized by the way he sang the first opening song for the event on Tuesday night.

INFO: Phoebe knows what it takes to make it as a live performer. Five nights a week, she entertains the crowds at a local music café – earning her living as a professional musician. But Phoebe knows she is ready for a bigger audience and is keen to show what she can do. With a passion for music, Phoebe likes nothing better than belting out a big rock number for her audience, so look out for Phoebe the rocker chick when she takes the stage.

Yee Si Ling 余思铃

INFO: You’ve probably heard her sing or seen her on television and never realised it. Si Ling has sung back-up vocals for some of the biggest artistes in the region, including Kit Chan. She has been a back-up singer on television shows as well as working in the studio recording jingles and cover versions. Si Ling is a talented professional but singing back-up for other people is not enough for her. With Guinness Live Si Ling has the chance to show what she can do and establish herself as an artiste in her own right. It’s time for Si Ling to move from the back of the stage to the front!

putting them together.. after that Jason and Fatt Zhai asked them some questions..
it brought alot of laughter n joy... to the audiences as well. :)

NOW its time to reveal the results !

Starting from zero, the point determination is split into 2 phases.

Phase 1: The marks would be determined by the judges. Cheering from the audiences for each of the contestant would be taken into consideration as well.

Phase 2: Three person would be picked from the audiences to cast their vote on who they think is a better singer. Each vote equates to 10 points.

For the scenario that day, each of them got 70 points from the Phase 1. Thereafter, 3 persons were picked from the audience to cast their vote. The first person cast his vote on one of them, and the second person cast his vote on the other. Eventually, they resulted in having the same points in the end. Both got 80 points each. Hence, the vote from the 3rd person is the most crucial one...

In the end.. the 3rd person cast his vote for SiLing, saying that her performance was better and more comfortable to listen. Hence, she emerge as a winner for this Round with 10 points more than Phoebe. Below where the red arrow is pointing to was the 3rd person who cast the final vote for Si Ling.
